East Wenatchee woman arrested in stabbing

When deputies arrived they found Kirby’s husband holding his abdomen, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Douglas County Superior Court. Lifeline Ambulance crews later located six wounds on his body.

The man initially told 911 dispatchers he was stabbed by Kirby but then told medical staff he fell and stabbed himself, the affidavit said. The severity of his injuries was not immediately clear to first responders.

Kirby first told investigators the stabbing was accidental, but during a follow-up interview was unable to explain the stabbing.

Kirby was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault. She was released from custody without bail Monday after a preliminary appearance in Superior Court.
