LAKE CHELAN — Rescuers airlifted a 28-year-old Ellensburg hunter who broke his ankle near the Devil’s Backbone northwest of Chelan on Thursday.
Kyle Branch was hunting solo when he rolled his ankle on a remote, roadless ridge at about 5,300 feet, said Sgt. Kent Sisson with Chelan County Emergency Management.
Branch used an SOS on his GPS to call for help. A rescue helicopter reached the man about 3:30 p.m. and flew him to Wenatchee.
