WENATCHEE — A fire that broke out about 8 a.m. Sunday destroyed a large, metal warehouse at Selland Construction, 1285 S. Wenatchee Ave.
Oil stored in the warehouse caught fire, adding to the thick black smoke that billowed into the sky and was visible for miles, said Stan Smoke, Wenatchee fire chief.
No one was injured, Smoke said. He said it was too early to determine a cause.
Rick Reeves, a foreman with Selland Construction, was at the site and said the warehouse was where vehicles and equipment were repaired.
The fire burned the entire east end of the warehouse, causing some areas to collapse inward.
When crews arrived, the building was fully involved in fire, Smoke said. The fire was considered under control by about 9:15 a.m.
The fire prompted responses from multiple fire jurisdictions, including Chelan County Fire District 1 and 6, Douglas County Fire District 2, and units from Cashmere and Orondo.
