♦ The Columbia Ice & Cold Storage Co., recognizing the need in the Wenatchee Valley for cold storage facilities for its apples, is planning to add another unit to its present plant. The plant, when finished, will have room for 300 cars of apples for cold storage and 50 cars for dry storage. It will be 100 feet square and have four stories and a full basement. In addition, there will be special rooms for the storage of butter, eggs and cheese. The plant will represent an investment of over $50,000. Benjamin Cedargreen, one of the owners, said that the step of increasing the capacity was only taken after a careful study of the needs of apple marketing and that they believed the plant would fill a long-desired need. Work on the addition will begin this month.
