WENATCHEE — Firehouse Pet Shop and Grooming and PetSmart are accepting donations of pet food and supplies for the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society's effort to help those affected by fires near the Entiat Valley.

The Humane Society is offering free pet boarding for level three fire evacuees. It is collecting donated food and supplies for the boarded pets, including: dog food, cat food, leashes, blankets, treats, toys, dishes for food and water.

The Humane Society has taken in 25 animals since Aug. 3, according to Renee Parkins, Humane Society development officer. That includes 10 animals that were brought in Friday morning.

Firehouse, 17 S Wenatchee Ave., is a drop-off location for donations to the Humane Society. PetSmart, 321 Valley Mall Parkway, is also participating. “We have such great community support when things like this happen,” Parkins said.

The Humane Society is making daily trips to Chelan and Entiat to deliver supplies to those in need.
