Attendees at the food fair can buy raffle tickets to guess where the horses in the Stemilt Grand Parade on May 6 in Wenatchee will relieve themselves on the parade route.
It’s a fundraiser the group calls “road apple roulette.” We’ll let you guess what road apples are.
Participants can buy a $5 raffle ticket to one of five “drop zones” in front of Memorial Park. The zone that is hit first will be the winning zone, and the ticket holders for that zone will be entered into a $10,000 raffle. Ticket holders for the other four zones will be entered into raffles for $500.
According to a press release from the Rotary Club, “Rotarian Road Apple Wranglers will follow the horses to ensure the accuracy of the raffle and keep the parade route clean!”
The money from the fundraiser will be used for Sunrise Rotary charitable projects. Last year, Kathy Ornelas, a paraprofessional at Quincy High School, won the $10,000 prize.
The Road Apple Roulette is sponsored by Rotary Club of Wenatchee Sunrise and Building! North Central Washington.
