WENATCHEE — Three families lost their homes after a Thursday afternoon fire took out two houses on the 1100 block of Kittitas Street.
RiverCom dispatch received a report about the fire at 4:52 p.m., said Kay McKellar, spokesperson for Chelan County Fire District 1. Responding firefighters quickly called in a second alarm, requesting assistance from nearby fire districts.
The fire extensively damaged both homes, collapsing one roof, she said.
Crews knocked down the fire at 6:49 p.m. One responding firefighter was sent to Central Washington Hospital due to heat-related issues but was released without injury, she said.
All residents evacuated their homes without injuries. The American Red Cross has been in contact with the families, she said.
The cause of the fire is pending investigation by the fire marshal.
