Updated, 3:50 p.m. Friday: MANSFIELD — The fire near Highway 172 is 100 percent contained, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. All roads are open, but crews are still in the area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

Updated, 3:25 p.m. Friday: MANSFIELD — Highway 172 is reopened from milepost 25 to 35, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Updated, 1:55 p.m. Friday: MANSFIELD — Highway 172 is now closed in both directions from milepost 25 to milepost 35 (Manson to Highway 17), according to the state Department of Transportation.

Updated, 1:35 p.m. Friday: MANSFIELD — Highway 172 is closed in both directions from milepost 30 to milepost 35 at the junction of Highway 172 and Highway 17, according to the state Department of Transportation.

MANSFIELD — Highway 172 is closed from milepost 31 to 33 due to a brush fire east of Mansfield. 

No houses are threatened, but wind and smoke has made the highway dangerous for motorists, said Douglas County Sheriff Kevin Morris.

Crews from Douglas County Fire Districts 3 and 5 are on scene.
