DRYDEN — Two Peshastin residents are dead after a collision Wednesday on Highway 2/97.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash took place about 3 p.m. as their vehicle crossed the highway at Deadman Hill Road.

The State Patrol said Kathrine McDuffie, 60, died at the scene and Mark Anderson, 59, died at Central Washington Hospital.

McDuffie’s 1979 Chevy Camaro collided with an eastbound 2005 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Philipp Buterbaugh, 47, of Wenatchee. He was not injured.

The State Patrol said McDuffie’s vehicle was northbound on Deadman Hill Road and that it failed to yield to highway traffic after stopping at a stop sign.

World reporter Luke Hollister contributed to this report.
