UPDATE | Section of South Lakeshore to be closed Monday while crews work 25 Mile Creek Fire

A roadblock at milepost 9 on South Lakeshore Road will remain in effect today as firefighting crews work on the 25 Mile Creek Fire. With the roadblock, Hale and Shady Pass roads are closed to the public as well.

Updated, 9:05 a.m. Monday: CHELAN — Level 3 evacuations remain in place for homes affected by the 25 Mile Creek Fire near Lake Chelan.

Sgt. Kent Sisson with Chelan County Emergency Management said South Lakeshore Road will be closed all day Monday at milepost 9.5 while crews mop up and secure a perimeter. Hale and Shady Pass roads are closed as well.

The evacuation levels may be lowered Monday, Sisson said, but the road will remain closed while crews repair damaged infrastructure along the roadway.


Updated, 7 p.m. Sunday: Level 3 evacuations — leave now — have been issued for homes west of milepost 9.5 on South Lakeshore Road, including Hale Road, Shady Pass and 25 Mile State Park. 

Sgt. Kent Sisson with Chelan County Emergency Management said this includes about 60 to 70 homes, many of which are vacation homes.


First report: CHELAN — Fire crews are responding to a new fire in the Lake Chelan area.

According to the state Department of Natural Resources, the fire is 5 acres and burning on the south shore of Lake Chelan near 25 Mile Creek.

Level 1 evacuations were issued around 5:45 p.m. Sunday to residents between 25 Mile Creek State Park and Hale Road, according to Chelan County Emergency Management. The fire is burning east of the intersection of South Lakeshore and Hale Road.

The Chelan PUD is shutting down power for about 130 customers between Fields Point and 25 Mile Creek on Lake Chelan.
