WENATCHEE — Visits to volcanic hotspot Jan Mayen Island and the northernmost active volcano on the planet, Beerenburg, will be featured in a Tuesday presentation at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center.

"Above the Arctic Circle: Exploring Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard" begin at 7 p.m. at 127 S. Mission St. John Buchanan, geology professor emeritus at Eastern Washington University, will discuss his three summers up there.

He’ll talk about the geologic history and plate tectonic opening of the North Atlantic and the Skaergaard Complex, part of the North Atlantic Igneous Province. The program, hosted by the Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute, is free and open to the public.
