EPHRATA — Authorities arrested a Grant County man Wednesday after he assaulted a courthouse security guard and evaded capture the previous day.
Joshua Maher was arrested Tuesday in Grand Coulee by members of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release from the city of Ephrata.
He was booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Maher is accused of assaulting a female security officer guarding a metal detector Tuesday morning as he attempted to enter Grant County Superior Court.
He fled on foot and eluded officers from three law enforcement agencies and a K-9.
The security guard was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake with a leg injury, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Kyle Foreman.
