WENATCHEE — The Numerica Performing Arts Center has a new executive director: Robert Cox, a senior operations manager with Microsoft.

Cox’s first day on the job is July 1. He moved to Wenatchee in 2017 to manage critical environment teams at Microsoft’s data centers in Quincy.

“As a resident of Wenatchee, I have enjoyed several productions at the Numerica PAC and have a strong understanding of the importance of this organization within the community and of its place in the economic health of the downtown area,” Cox said in a news release Friday.

Cox is the successor to former executive director, Matt Cadman, who retired in March.

Cox has a master of fine arts degree in directing from Rutgers University. For the last decade, he’s served as the artistic director for 12 Miles West Theatre Co. in New York City.

“I am excited to partner with the board of directors as we seek to make the Numerica Performing Arts Center a vibrant, transformative theater where all our communities feel welcomed, engaged, entertained and inspired,” Cox said.

He’s previously worked for a number of large companies, like real estate investment firm CBRE, JPMorgan Chase, Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch.

Denise Books, the PAC’s board of directors president, said the group received applicants from across the country.

“Robert brings a unique blend of both business and theater experience,” Books said. “His enthusiasm for and experience in the arts, combined with the business acumen to efficiently manage operations will take our organization to the next level.”
