People walk the track at Eastmont High School during the 2019 Relay for Life on Friday evening. According to event organizer Kelley Hopkins, the event dates back to late 1980s and is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The evening celebrates and honors loved ones with cancer. She said as of last Saturday, teams had raised more than $38,000. Fundraising continues through Aug. 31. Proceeds are used for cancer research and programs the American Cancer Society offers.
