Charges have been dismissed against a Wenatchee man accused of rape and attempted rape.
Ricardo Patino Cervantes was accused of raping a woman in January 2016 while she was under the influence of medications and too weak to fight him off. He was also accused of attempting to rape a woman drinking alcohol in October 2016 near the Pipeline Pedestrian Bridge.
Cervantes, 42, pleaded not guilty in Chelan County Superior Court in November to second-degree rape and second-degree attempted rape.
Unable to contact the victims, the Chelan County Prosecutor’s Office dropped the charges May 16, according to documents filed in superior court.
The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning prosecutors can refile charges if they find evidence to do so.
