Update: The fire was extinguished at a little over 14 acres, Fire Chief Arnold Baker said.

"We pulled fire district personnel late (Saturday) evening," he said in a text message. The U.S. Forest Service "was gracious to put their 20-person hand crew with an engine for the evening to widen the fire line and mop up."

MANSON — Firefighters are working on containing a brush fire near the intersection of Lower Joe Creek, Upper Joe Creek and Grade Creek roads north of Manson.

Chelan County Fire District 5 Chief Arnold Baker estimated the fire at 8-10 acres. The fire is "suspicious," he said, but the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters were called out about 1:30 p.m., Baker said, and will likely continue working through the night.

Chelan County fire districts 1, 7 and 8 and Douglas County Fire District 4 also responded, along with crews from the state Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service.
