WENATCHEE — Nate Blauman and the Wenatchee Panthers kept rolling Friday as the senior tailback crossed 1,000 rushing yards on the season, following another hundred-yard performance, and the Panthers blew out the Davis Pirates 48-14 at the Apple Bowl.

NEW YORK — James Paxton pitched six gritty innings, DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Hicks hit first-inning homers off Justin Verlander, and the New York Yankees beat the Houston Astros 4-1 Friday night in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series to stave off elimination.

CASHMERE — Homecoming week tends to draw out the unusual and, at times, can lead to some questionable losses, but not for the Cashmere Bulldogs, who took care of business and wrapped up their week with a 1-nil victory over the Okanogan Bulldogs Thursday night.

The Wenatchee High School girls' swim team honored 10 seniors on their team on Tuesday night as part of senior night. Wenatchee swam a dual meet against West Valley and Sunnyside. The Panthers, the top team in the Big 9, beat West Valley 149-23 and Sunnyside 150-20.
