Eastmont softball edges Cheney

Thursday was a chance to cleanse themselves of the weekend losses while they hosted the Cheney Blackhawks, who were also off of a recent loss. They didn’t waste it. The Wildcats won 13-8.

“We hit the ball and ran the bases really well tonight,” Eastmont Head Coach Cliff Johnson said. “We still need to clean up our defense. Our pitchers had to throw too much.”

Eastmont had a few athletes break out and help the team.

“I like what I saw offensively,” Johnson said.

Last year, Eastmont torched Cheney 11-1. The Blackhawks went on to have a solid season within the 3A classification. Their 11-11 record culminated during districts with a loss to Kennewick.

Eastmont is 1-2. Eastmont hosts Eisenhower for a doubleheader Friday at 4 and 5:30 p.m.
