CHELAN — Chelan Football knew they had to right the ship Friday night after a couple losses earlier this month. So when they hosted Tonasket, they didn’t hold back, and won decisively 55-13.
“It was a good team win for the Goats,” Chelan Head Coach Travis Domser said. “We eliminated mistakes on both sides of the ball against a tough, disciplined Tonasket team.”
Whether it was offense or defense, Chelan was an efficiency machine, and scored twice on defense.
One was from Ethan Strandberg, who returned an interception for a touchdown. The second came from a forced fumble, scooped up by Jahir Garduno, and ran in the last 10 yards for another touchdown.
Chelan had a total 190 passing yards and 160 rushing.
“It's tough to score on defense,” Domser said. “That was great to see. We threw the ball well, and ran tough. We’ve been using more of our bench, and they’ve been stepping up which has been exciting.”
Reed Stamps threw the ball well, managed the offense, and went 12-for-18 passing, earning 189 yards with one rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns. Ryan Allen rushed for 95 yards and Austin McCardle score three total TDs (one rushing, two receiving).
Chelan plays Cascade in Peshastin next Friday at 7 p.m.
