The Wenatchee Wild, proud members of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in conjunction with the league have released their full regular season Game Schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Once again, the season will be 58 games in length, featuring 28 home games, 28 away and 2 at a neutral site for the BCHL Showcase Festival presented by Bauer.
The BCHL season opens on Friday, September 6 and for the Wild, they will be on the road at Merritt. Wenatchee’s home opener will bring the Vernon Vipers in for a pair of games beginning Friday September 13 and will feature a host of Opening Weekend activities at Town Toyota Center.
The BCHL Showcase Festival presented by Bauer this season is divided between two venues. The Interior teams (plus Prince George) will skate at the South Okanagan Event Centre in Penticton, while the remaining 9 teams will compete at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack. The Showcase Schedule will be released later this week and will take place the first week of October.
Some of the highlighted events for the Wild this season include “Pink At The Rink” (Sat. Oct. 26 vs Salmon Arm), “Military Appreciation Night” (Sat. Nov. 9 vs Penticton), “Teddy Bear Toss Night” (Fri. Dec. 13 vs Salmon Arm), “WAHA Night” (Sat. Jan. 18 vs Surrey Eagles), “Guns N Hoses Night” (Sat. Feb. 1 vs Coquitlam), and “Fan Appreciation Night” (Sat. Feb. 15 vs Chilliwack).
Other notable matchups on the schedule feature a visit from the defending Fred Page Cup Champion Prince George Spruce Kings on Monday, Nov. 25 and a rematch with last season’s second round playoff opponent, the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Fri. Jan. 17.
With 28 home games scheduled, 25 of them will be on Fridays and Saturdays, with two on Wednesdays and one on a Monday.
The BCHL and its member clubs will announce the schedule for preseason contests in the near future.
