Ken was born at home on March 31, 1928, in Yakima, WA. He left home at a young age, then joined the Army in 1950. After being discharged from the Army, he returned to the Yakima area, where he met and married Alice May Matthews on May 23, 1953. They spent a few years living in the Renton area while he worked at Boeing and his two daughters were born; Connie, June 3, 1954, and Diana, November 1, 1955. Ken and his young family then moved to Quincy, where he worked for Cedargreens for a short time before starting his career at the Post Office. His son, Kenneth, was born in Quincy on May 29, 1963. Ken enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking and taking road trips with his family. He was an avid do-it-yourself handyman, who built a house outside of Quincy with the help of his wife, Alice. He retired from the Post Office in 1990. Ken and Alice spent a couple of years traveling and living on the Oregon coast, before once again settling in Quincy. After the death of Alice in 1995, he moved to Wenatchee.
Ken was a devoted husband to Alice for 42 years and a loving father and grandfather who is survived by his three children, Connie Mae Mai, Diana Lee Rutherford and Kenneth Eugene Tesh; 11 grandchildren, Audrey (Katie) Saunders, Amanda Rutherford, Greg Mai, Brent Mai, Jonathan Mai, Sarah Mai, Piper Tesh, Rachel Tesh, Paige Tesh, Patrick Tesh and Rhian Tesh; and four great-grandchildren, Megan Rutherford, Joshua Rich, Kylie Sawyer and Lucas Sawyer.
Later this year, Ken's ashes, along with Alice's, will be scattered by family in the Cascade Mountains. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Icicle Village Resort in Leavenworth, WA.
