Joy Crystal Brownlow (Kirby) Daniels, 90, a resident of Leavenworth, WA, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. Joy was born to Willis and Grace (Hayes) Brownlow on December 10, 1920, at Blewett, WA. She grew up in Leavenworth and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1938. In 1939, she married Asa Kirby and they made their home in Cashmere and raised their family. In 1957, they moved to Auburn until Asa's death in 1966. In the late 80's, Joy moved back to Leavenworth to enjoy the crisp, clean mountain air and, in 1979, she met and married "Buck" Daniels and continued living in Leavenworth. Joy dearly loved the spring time, when she could go up to the local Ski Hill to see the many varieties of wild flowers. She would also look for them up Tumwater Canyon and the Icicle. Joy was a faithful member of the Leavenworth Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Juanita Brownlow of Wenatchee, Loretta Allen of Ocean Shores and Kathy Buchanan of Redlands, CA; sons, Larry Kirby of Auburn and Randy Kirby of Puyallup; one sister, Leona Avey of Wenatchee; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Asa Kirby in 1966, and Walter "Buck" Daniels in 1981; daughter, Linda in 1954; son, Donnie in 1966; brother, Loren Brownlow; and a sister, Esther Regan.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth at 11:00 a.m., with Private Family Burial in the Cashmere City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Memorial contributions may be made in Joy's name to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10600 Ski Hill Drive, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
