Kristen J. Scott

Kristen J. Scott

December 18, 1963 - May 30, 2017

East Wenatchee, WA

Heaven grew brighter when Kristen Joan Scott passed away peacefully in the

morning of May 30, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Kristen was born in Aberdeen, WA, in December, 1963, to Kenneth and Joanne

Olsonberg. Her family remained in Aberdeen for seven years, during which her

siblings Leslie, and Kenneth ("Kenny") were born. Her brother, Kevin, joined

the family in 1970, after her family moved to Renton, WA. They lived in Renton

until 1978, when they moved across Washington State to Spokane, WA. Kristen

graduated from University High School in 1982, and shortly after, began

studying at Spokane Falls Community College, where she met Brian Scott, the

man who would become the love of her life. The two began dating in January of

1983, continued dating as she received her AA degree from Spokane Falls in

1984, and as she moved to Seattle in 1985. Kristen moved back to Spokane a

year later, and she and Brian were engaged on Labor Day in 1986. They married

on July 11, 1987. The two moved to Wenatchee, WA, in January 1988, where,

after a few years, she was hired as a para-pro at Columbia Elementary. Kristen

found herself inspired to finish her degree in Elementary Education, which she

received from Central Washington University in 1991, and later in that same

year, she was hired at Lincoln Elementary in Wenatchee, where she would teach

for 11 years. In January 1994, Kristen and Brian came home with their son,

Zachary, and in 2003, she took a job as a part-time librarian at Cascade

Elementary to be closer to her son. Kristen became the full-time librarian at

Grant Elementary in 2005, where she started "Fancy Fridays" and passed on her

love of reading to all her students. For the past six years, Kristen was the

librarian at Eastmont Junior High School, and worked tirelessly to motivate

her students to love both learning and life. Her smile sparkled endlessly, and

her upbeat attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. Kristen defied the

odds, lived boldly, and sought out new adventures every day, wanting to make

sure everyone knows that "Life is Good."

Kristen is survived by her husband, Brian; her son, Zachary; her mother,

Joanne; and her siblings: Leslie, Kenneth, and Kevin. She was preceded in

death by her father, Kenneth I. Olsonberg.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., at

Eastmont Junior High School. In lieu of flowers, Kristen's family requests

that donations be made to Serve Wenatchee Valley.
