Margaret "Jeanne" Carroll
Margaret Jeanne Carroll, of Springfield, OR, died May 14, 2011, of age related causes. She was 96 years old. She was born January 17, 1915, in Bellingham, WA, to Joseph and Margaret Fyfe Houghton. She grew up in Bellingham, spent her summers at Lake Samish, and graduated from Western Washington College with a Teaching degree. Jeanne was trained as a Ballerina and danced in recitals. Jeanne met George Carroll while teaching in Entiat, WA, shortly after graduating from college. They were married in 1939, and they lived in Manson and Chelan, WA. George and Jeanne moved to Elgin, OR, where they raised their family of three children. While in Elgin, she taught school and had a dance studio. After the children were grown, George and Jeanne moved back to Washington State, where they developed farm land, in Mattawa, WA. Upon retirement, they moved to Wenatchee, WA. After George passed away, Jeanne moved to Springfield, OR to be near her daughter and family.
Jeanne is survived by a daughter, Sandra Cochran of Springfield, OR; son, Joe Carroll of San Diego, CA; and son, Pat Carroll of Lynnwood, WA. She had seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Jeanne will be laid to rest in Bellingham, WA, next to the love of her life, her husband, George Carroll.
