If you feel like you may need to evacuate, listen to the radio and television for evacuation information. Follow the advice given by authorities. Tell family and friends you may need to evacuate and let them know where you are going. And pre-load your car with emergency supplies. If you feel threatened by an encroaching fire but have not yet received evacuation orders, do not wait to leave.
When you are told to evacuate the area, and it is safe to do so, close all windows, vents, doors, remove lightweight curtains, shut off gas utilities and do not attempt to re-enter the area until firefighters or emergency personnel have given the all-clear.
