NCW — Write on the Rivers' short-story competition begins this month.

The writing organization will start accepting 1,000 word pieces of fiction or nonfiction starting on Nov. 15 and finish Feb. 1, according to a Write on the River news release. The organization gives out $1,200 in cash prizes to six writers who win the competition.

This year writers can submit stories online, according to the news release. The fee for entry is $20 per submission or $40 for entry plus three written critiques of your work.
