CASA is a volunteered-powered network of committed people—from all walks of life—who believe society has a fundamental obligation to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect.  CASAs are people, just like you, who believe that every child has the right to be treated with dignity, to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family.

1.      When a child in Chelan or Douglas County has been removed from their home do to abuse or neglect, a CASA Volunteer is appointed, by a judge to advocate for these children.  CASAs are people who fight for these children to make sure their basic rights and essential needs don’t get overlooked or ignored by the system.

This is one cause where the actions of a single person mean everything.  One volunteer, trained and empowered to ensure that every child can thrive in the safe embrace of a loving home.

2.      The Chelan-Douglas CASA Program, which is a non-profit organization, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014.  Our program has served more than 1,200 children.  We currently have 74 volunteers who are serving 155 children.  We have seen an increase of children in need of a CASA this year.  As the number of children increase, so does the need for additional CASA Volunteers.

3.     Too many children in the child welfare system lose their families, their rights and their hope.  Join our fight to make sure they don’t.  As a CASA you will not only bring positive change to the lives of these vulnerable children, but also their children and generations to come.  And in doing so, you will enrich your life as well.

4.     The Chelan-Douglas CASA Program invites you to change a child’s life.

Make a New Year’s Resolution to become a voice for an abused or neglected child here in our valley.

5.     Our winter, new CASA Volunteer training is scheduled to begin on Jan. 24th.

Become a CASA and volunteer your time to change a child’s life.
