A full-day workshop dedicated to managing emerging postharvest diseases is Feb. 18, from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Center Way, Wenatchee. Registration ends Monday. The program will highlight best practices to enhance pollination, optimize crop load management, bee health, and understanding the role of Manchurian crab apple pollinizers in their spread, and exploring potential replacements, according to a Washington State University Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center Horticulture news release.
Workshop topics include emerging pathogens, on-site detection of emerging pathogens to enhance management and shipping, identifying new pollinizers to replace Manchurian crab apples, enhancing pollination efficiency, precision crop-load management, and bee foraging and health. Speakers are Achour Amiri, Jenna Voelker, Arild Arifin, Stefano Musacchi, Sara Serra, Tory Schmidt, and Gloria DeGrandi-Hoffman.
